Meet 2016 Iron Elite Rider Chef Jeff
Beginning life “in POVERTY”, is a challenge. And unfortunately, it’s a challenge many fail to negotiate. The lure of fast money and “neighborhood respect” is fueled by lack of parental involvement and values. Jeff Henderson, raised in South Central L.A. and San Diego quickly became a statistic; one of those who chose the path that was filled with false hope, broken dreams and a loss he never dreamed possible. While serving a ten-year prison term in federal prison for drug trafficking, Jeff was introduced to reading, writing, speaking and culinary arts. He developed skills as a cook in the kitchen that would eventually serve him once he was released. His ever growing desire to serve troubled children became his focus~ and even as an inmate, Jeff began speaking to high school youth.
Upon release from prison, Jeff’s love of learning grew and he carefully studied the culinary world’s most renowned chefs. He read and practiced and eventually became an Executive Chef at the world famous Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. Today he has published multiple books, starred in several television shows and has been a featured guest on Oprah three times.
However, Chef Jeff never forgot where he came from and he speaks to youth about overcoming adversity and making decisions that can affect their lives. He is able to incorporate his background with the culinary fame he now has and is able to encourage and inspire troubled youth for a better tomorrow. Chef Jeff Henderson resides in Las Vegas with his wife Stacy and 5 children. He is an Iron Elite rider and happy to be participating in the Realities For Children Forever Family Ride in Colorado to help inspire a better tomorrow for children in need.
